I’m not really a religious person, but the calmness I felt in a particular mosque in Istanbul, when I was young, was so serene that I’ll never forget it. I tried to capture that feeling in this artwork with light being the centre of life. I hope that I can maybe evoke even just a glimpse of that serenity in the viewers too.
